A Friend

A Friend

Libby Barstow

I need a friend to sit with me
To help me struggle through,
The sadness and the anger,
And the crying I will do.

I need a friend to set with me
To help me work this out,
The guilt and all the anguish,
The times I’ll want to shout.

I need a friend to sit with me
To help me through my pain,
The longing and the emptiness,
The need to speak his name.

It’s o.k to cry

1flower-56408_1280.png

“We can’t be strong all the time. Sometimes we just need to be alone and let your tears out”

When you are grieving, you will experience a roller coaster of  feelings and emotions…

Most people I work with are afraid of the tears….

Crying is a common characteristic of the grieving process, but not crying doesn’t necessarily  mean something is wrong with you,

Unless, you are avoiding your true feelings.

Everyone’s grief is unique and everyone’s style of grieving is also unique.

I am the only one in my immediate family who is a crier.

My family after many years finally understands that this is how I cope; when I am sad I cry!

Many people believe (myself included) that crying just makes you feel better emotionally and physically!

Crying cleanses the soul…

Don’t be afraid of the tears when they come, allow them to flow freely…

It’s ok to cry… God gave us tears for a reason

Jesus wept… John 11:35

“Let your tears come. Let them water your soul.”  E Mayhew

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My Power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9

So if crying is your coping style… Decide to have a good cry today!
Praying for those in mourning today…

Memories Are

Memories are the windows that hold the past in view. Through them we can see again each joy we ever knew.

Psalm 23

2tree-motivational-quotes

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

Gratitude

“GRATITUDE makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Acknowledging the blessings we have is key to a joyful and peaceful life.

We have so much to be GRATEFUL for and when we don’t acknowledge the ABUNDANCE that surrounds us on a regular basis, we tend to believe we are lacking or missing out.

We take so much for granted; but we need to have an

“Attitude of GRATITUDE.”

It is so easy to be thankful when things are going well, but when things aren’t going well we need to take a step back breathe and remind ourselves that we still need to be grateful… even in the pain.

Being thankful doesn’t mean that everything in our lives is perfect; it’s a daily conscious decision to have a grateful heart in all circumstances.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

Take time to appreciate what’s in front of you…and be thankful for today…

Be Blessed, Be Peaceful and Be Grateful!!!!

“The remarkable thing is, we have a CHOICE everyday regarding the Attitude we will embrace for that day.”

 Chuck Swindoll

If you want to change something in your life you can!

But it will take a Daily commitment!

Embracing Your Grief

He that conceals his GRIEF finds no remedy for it.

Turkish Proverb

Let’s talk about Grief!

Don’t run away…

Stop and turn around with open arms and begin to embrace the hurt and the pain that you are experiencing…

You want me to EMBRACE my Grief?

Yes, it is important to embrace, to become familiar with, to understand, to connect with and to know your grief.

It’s YOUR grief and no one can take it from you or experience it the way you are experiencing  it.

Grief can be a dark, confusing, scary and lonely journey. It can be agonizing to lose someone or something that you love.

But in order to get to the other side you have to walk through it.

Is this an easy process? NO, absolutely not, but it is a necessary process.

It takes a conscious effort, hard work, courage and support

Even though grief is universal; remember everyone grieves differently – we all have our own personal unique story.

Be compassionate, patient and kind to yourself. Handle your grief with care.

Remember:

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 34:18

There is Hope!
